Burton Ralph Olson
Burton Ralph Olson, 85 of Duluth passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 in Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet. He was born April 4, 1933 in Duluth to Arthur and Florence Olson. He graduated from Duluth Central in 1951. On September 20, 1952 Burton married Arlene Nelson. He was an Army Veteran serving in Korea during the Korean Conflict.
Burton worked as an electrician for US Steel from 1952 until retiring in 1980. He also drove bus for United Cerebral Palsy. He was a former member of the Wesley Methodist Church in Duluth and was currently a member of Journey Christian Church in Cloquet. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and helping friends and family. He was an avid sports fan and was a season ticket holder for UMD Bulldog's Hockey. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's events.
Burton was preceded in death by an infant son and a great grandson, Azariah Schrick.
He is survived and will be sadly missed by his wife of 66 years, Arlene; daughters, Diane (Justin) Morrison and Susan (Jeff) Lane; son, Arthur Olson; brother, Rodney (Patricia) Olson; sister, Beatrice (Ted) Jacobson; nine grandchildren, Rissa (Nathan) Schrick, Laura (Dusty) Pickar, Becca Clemens, Amber (Aaron) McCord, Matthew (Rachel) Olson, Alisha (Richard) Stefaniw, Emily Lane, Kristin (Daniel) Lindberg and Michael Lane; and 13 great grandchildren, Ella, Raelah, Jedidiah, Lincoln, Malachi, Mariyah, Archer, Josie, Jemma, Ryan, Easton, Adeline, and Ellis.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sunnyside Health Care Center for the exceptional and loving care given to Burt and his family. You will ever be a part of our family.
Visitation: 10 until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, September 19, 2018 in Journey Christian Church, 1400 Washington Ave., Cloquet. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Duluth.
