CCHS hosts ‘Minnesota 1918’ author
The Carlton County Historical Society welcomes author Curt Brown, author of "Minnesota 1918: When Flu, Fire, and War Ravaged the State,” for a program at its museum in Cloquet on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m.
Brown, a reporter for more than 30 years for newspapers in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Fergus Falls, writes a weekly Minnesota history column for the Star Tribune from his home near Durango, Colo. He was named “Minnesota Journalist of the Year” in 2013 and has authored several local history books.
"Minnesota 1918" was published by the Minnesota Historical Society earlier this year in recognition of the triple tragedy that affected the area Oct. 12, 1918.
After Brown's presentation, autographed copies of his book will be available for sale. Refreshments will be served.
Admission is $3 for adults; $1 for children under age 12; and free for children under age 5 and Carlton County Historical Society members. The museum is handicapped-accessible.
