Master Gardener applications available
The Carlton County Extension Master Gardener Program is seeking individuals with an interest in plants and gardening who would enjoy sharing that interest with others. Applications for Master Gardener volunteers are being accepted until Oct. 31.
Individuals selected begin an internship that starts with Master Gardener core course training Jan. 11. The course is taught online or in-person at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
Interns will complete volunteer service in the first year, working with local Master Gardener volunteers on projects that educate the public. The primary projects in Carlton County include plant sales, garden tours, community gardens and question-and-answer booths at events.
After completing the internship, participants become certified Master Gardeners. To remain certified, Master Gardeners must contribute at least 25 hours of volunteer service annually.
